The Fiat Lux Foundation is run entirely by volunteers. Our administrative costs are kept to a minimum and nearly all donated funds go directly to supporting our educational and medical delivery efforts.

Thomas Tayeri, M.D. co-founded the Fiat Lux Foundation in 2010 and has participated in numerous overseas surgical expeditions to Asia and Africa. Tom graduated from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) medical school in 1990 and completed his ophthalmology training at Stanford University. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmologists, a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Glaucoma Society, and past president of the Peninsula Eye Society.
Jeff Rothschild served as the first Vice President of Technology at Facebook, where he focused on scalability and performance. Prior to Facebook, Jeff focused on storage management and internet services as an investor and entrepreneur. He previously co-founded Veritas Software, where he was responsible for product strategy and architecture. Jeff also co-founded Mpath Interactive/Hearme, where he served as Vice President of Engineering. Jeff holds a bachelor's degree in psychology and master's degree in computer science from Vanderbilt University.
David F. Chang, M.D. is widely recognized as one of the top cataract surgeons in the world. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Harvard College and earned his Medical Degree from Harvard Medical School. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of California, San Francisco, where he was promoted to Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology in 1999. As one of the most prominent international experts, David regularly lectures on cataract techniques and the newest lens implants to other surgeons in the U.S. and abroad, and has received numerous prestigious national and international awards.

Wesley Korir has been serving on the board of the Kisii Eye Hospital since 2013. Wesley was born and raised in Kitale, Kenya. He graduated from the University of Louisville with a degree in Biology. He now runs professionally, and is the 2012 Boston marathon champion as well as two time LA marathon champion and record holder. In 2013, Wesley became a Member of Parliament for Cherangany Constituency. Through his Kenyan Kids Foundation, he is deeply involved in a number of philanthropic projects involving health care , education, microfinance, dairy farming, and water access.
Lisa Tayeri has worked extensively in the nonprofit sector since 1996. In addition to co-founding the Fiat Lux Foundation in 2010, Lisa has played an active role in the Junior League of Palo Alto Mid Peninsula, serving on the organization's Endowment Board and Board of Directors for four years. Currently she volunteers as a community consultant at The Children's Health Council and is on the fundraising committee of Vista Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired. Lisa graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in history and has a Master's Degree in Education from UCLA.
